invite out

to invite someone to go to a restaurant, to see a movie, etc.

  • Tom invited Mary out to lunch.
  • Please invite us out to dinner.
  • My friend invited me to go out to dinner.
  • Tom invited me to go out on his motorboat.
  • Tom invited Mary out just minutes after they met.
  • Do you know her address? I'm thinking of inviting her out.
  • I had hardly finished my meal when my friend phoned me and invited me out for dinner.
  • I called you, on the one hand to invite you out to eat, and on the other to tell you my son is going to get married.
